Simonetta Gianfelici has lived, shaped, and inspired the world of fashion. A timeless icon who continues to break boundaries and leave her mark on every chapter of the industry.
She was among the most in-demand models throughout the 1980s and 1990s, gracing the runways for iconic designers like Mugler, Vivienne Westwood, Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Valentino, to name just a few. In 2024, at the age of 60, she walked the runway for Antonio Marras. Her allure remained unchanged in its essence, yet it had evolved naturally, reflecting a new chapter of her femininity and elegance. Her presence became a significant symbol of age diversity at Milan Fashion Week, highlighting the timelessness of her beauty. Once again, she proved her ability to break boundaries, redefining the standards of the fashion industry.
Her presence wasn’t limited to the catwalk; she was a muse for some of the world’s most celebrated photographers. One of her most notable collaborations was in 1982, when she was photographed by the legendary Helmut Newton for Vogue France. When these striking images from this session were later featured in Vogue Italia, they marked the beginning of her unforgettable career.
Over time, her passion for fashion evolved beyond the runway giving life in 2005 to the ‘Who is on Next?’, a scouting project in collaboration with Vogue Italia, dedicated to emerging fashion designers.
Her work has also expanded into ethical fashion with the Ethical Fashion Initiative, where she has championed sustainability and nurtured creative talent, particularly in Africa. Gianfelici’s journey reflects a deep commitment to the growth and innovation of fashion, blending her experience and vision to inspire the next generation.
