Gucci’s recent premiere of the 20-minute documentary, “Who is Sabato De Sarno? A Gucci Story”, narrated by brand ambassador and actor Paul Mescal, teases an unprecedented glimpse into the House’s new trajectory.

Directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, the film offers a deep dive into the world of “Gucci Ancora”. Through never-before-seen footage and an intimate, heartfelt and playful narrative, the film provides a behind-the-scenes look into the making of one of the most anticipated shows in recent years – a pivotal show that not only marked a new chapter in the brand’s history, but also Sabato De Sarno’s debut as Gucci’s new creative director.

The film emphasizes the collaborative synergy between De Sarno and the Gucci team, showcasing their collective passion and effort – from the genesis of the creative process to the execution of the collection, bringing attention to the easily overlooked meticulous craftmanship behind each piece. While audiences follow the fil rouge that runs through De Sarno’s debut collection and the untold stories that have shaped “Gucci Ancora”, they also gradually get to know the brand’s new creative director, who has swiftly emerged from anonymity into the spotlight. Beyond his modus operandi and profound collaboration with his team, what shines through above all is Sabato’s humanity, personal growth and inspiring dedication. His personal reflections and insights in the days leading up to the show reveal his passions and his vision for the storied brand.

While the documentary premiered exclusively on MUBI last week, coinciding with the arrivals of the collection in stores, Gucci will also host screenings in major cities worldwide, allowing audiences to experience the short film on the big screen. In addition, beginning April 3, an enhanced edition will be available exclusively on Apple Vision Pro, offering an immersive journey into the world of “Gucci Ancora”. Gucci has also partnered with Air France to make the short film available on all flights throughout the month of April.
